Recently, the Sea Ice Prediction Network-SOUTH (SIPN-South) project has collected seasonal forecasts of Antarctic sea ice aligned with the Year Of Polar Prediction Special Observing Period (austral summer 2018-2019).

The 13th Session of CLIVAR/CliC/SCAR Southern Ocean Region Panel (SORP-13) will be held in conjunction with Polar2018 as a side meeting before the main event.
The 12th session of the CLIVAR/CliC/SCAR Southern Ocean Region Panel (SORP) was held on 29-30 June 2017 at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Foothills campus in Boulder, Colorado, USA.
On May 15th 2017, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) officially launches the Year of Polar Prediction in Geneva, Switzerland.
Dates for YOPP-SH meeting are 28 (afternoon)-29 (morning) June 2017, and the CLIVAR/CliC/SCAR Southern Ocean Region Panel meeting will be joint with YOPP-SH on morning of 29 June then rest of 29-30 June for SORP business.
