Southern Ocean Decade & Polar Data Forum Week 2021
SCAR 2022 Open Science Conference and Meetings - date to be confirmed
The SCAR Open Science Conferences are held every two years to draw attention to Antarctic issues. They provide an opportunity for scientists from a variety of disciplines and countries to present their work, to network and become more involved in SCAR science activities.
The 2022 SCAR Open Science Conference and Business Meetings will be held in Hyderabad, India in mid 2022.
Following the publication of our report on Southern Ocean priorities for the next 10 years, we are pleased to announce that the Southern Ocean Task Force will be hosting a Kick-off meeting for the Southern Ocean UN Decade online on the 9th July 2021.
The forth regular telecon in 2021 of CLIVAR/CliC/SCAR Southern Ocean Region Panel (SORP) was held on 3rd June.
The co-chair Elisabeth Sikes, also a member of the Southern Ocean Task Force, she mentioned that now that SORP has officially been involved in the Southern Ocean UN Decade, it was encouraged for the SORP members to join in the process of its development. She would bring the comments and ideas to the Southern Ocean UN Decade.
The third regular telecon in 2021 of CLIVAR/CliC/SCAR Southern Ocean Region Panel (SORP) was held at 6th May. Since the members of SORP are widely spread in different continents, the regular meeting has been set to alternate between two different time to accommodate every member’s time zone.
During the meeting, the progresses of the on planning workshops, the ‘NORP/SORP joint workshop’ and the ‘Fluxes in the sea-ice zone’ were discussed.
