The Hans-Ertel-Centre for Weather Research is hosting the first International Symposium on Regional Reanalysis from 17 to 19 July 2018 in Bonn (Germany). With reanalysis and in particular reagional reanalysis data sets getting more and more attention, the goal of the symposium is to discuss and promote all aspects of regional reanalyses.
The 2nd Indian Ocean Observing System (ndOOS) Review Workshop took place on March 22 and 23, 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia. There were 45 participants, including a Review Board of six, lead authors, IORP and SIBER members, and local observers.
The CLIVAR/IOC GOOS Indian Ocean Region Panel held its 14th Session in the afternoon of March 21, 2018, in Jakarta, Indonesia, alongside the IIOE-2 Steering Committee Meeting, IOGOOS-14 and SIBER-8.
Under the 2015 Paris Agreement, nations agreed to limit global mean warming to 2°C, while also working toward the more ambitious goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C. However, current pledges to support the Paris Agreement would only limit global warming to 3°C. Would meeting the Paris temperature goals be sufficient to avoid an ice-free Arctic?
The 2nd Indian Ocean Observing System (IndOOS) Review Workshop was organised on the 22-23 March 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia. During the workshop, each of the chapter of the review will be presented orally to the review board, and the overall recommendations are expected to be agreed on.
The 3rd Open Science Symposium (OSS) on Western Pacific Ocean Circulation and Climate (WPOC) will be held on May 8-10, 2018 in Qingdao, China.
The 13th Session of CLIVAR/CliC/SCAR Southern Ocean Region Panel (SORP-13) will be held in conjunction with Polar2018 as a side meeting before the main event.
WCRP is calling for (self-)nominations for membership in the WCRP Joint Scientific Committee (JSC), for a four-year term from January 2019 to December 2022. Nominations should be submitted via an online nomination form by 6 April 2018.
