A recent synthesis coordinated and largely contributed by the CLIVAR Pacific Region Panel, published in Science (Power et al., 2021, https://doi.org/10.1126/science.aay9165), reviews the current understanding of TPDV and provide recommendations to improve our understanding of TPDV and our ability to predict it.

The call for nominations to CLIVAR panels and the Scientific Steering Group (SSG) is now open, nominations can be submitted online via the nomination form. Deadline for submission has been extended to: 29 October, 2021.

The Physical Oceanography and Climate (POC) Committee Meeting of PICES was organized on 1st October 2021 online. Over 20 participants including POC members and representatives from International Observers attended the meeting. 

The sixth session of Ocean Model Development Panel (OMDP-6), as a side meeting of the Future Directions in Basin and Global High-resolution Ocean Modelling workshop, took place on 4th October.

Virtual workshop brought together more than 150 experts from around the world to address future directions of ocean modelling.

A preparation telecon for 2022 Sea Level Conference was organized on 27 September 2021, with the participation of representatives from WCRP Sea Level Grand Challenge, local organizers and ICPO. The telecon mainly focused on four issues: timings, schedule, budget and website.

The 4th Organising Committee telecon for CLIVAR-GOOS workshop was organized on September 23, 2021, with Dr. Edem Mahu elected a new co-chair of the committee and a review of the workshop design.

The 2nd Session of the CLIVAR/CliC Northern Oceans Region Panel (NORP-2) was successfully held online on 15th Sep and 22nd Sep.
