The "WCRP-CLIVAR Workshop on Climate Interactions among the Tropical Basins" was held successfully on 24-26 February, 2021.  Under the special circumstance of the COVID-19 pandemic, the workshop was held virtually, with over 200 participants from 31 countries.

The 5th Telecon of the ENSO Conceptual Model Working Group (WG) coordinated under CLIVAR Pacific Region Panel (PRP) was organised on 21:00- 23:00, 22nd February 2021. 18 members of the WG participated in the meeting.

The 3rd CLIVAR AMOC Task Team (TT) Preparation Telecon was organised on 18 February 2021, to finalise the Terms of References (TORs) and initial invitations for participation in the CLIVAR AMOC TT.

The Planning Team of the ‘WCRP-CLIVAR Workshop on Climate Interactions among the Tropical Basins’ organized its 5^th teleconference on February 17^th, 2021.

The co-chairs of CLIVAR Pacific Region Panel (PRP) called for a telecon on February 10th to discuss the draft TPOS2020 Final Report, which is soliciting for comments until February 19.

The WCRP Regional Focal Points (RFP) Team for the sub-region of Eastern Asia organized its third telecon on 4^th February, 2021, with the participation of representatives from WCRP Joint Steering Committee (JSC), GEWEX, SPARC, CLIVAR, S2S, WCRP-CNC and staff from ICPO.

The Planning Team of the ‘WCRP-CLIVAR Workshop on Climate Interactions among the Tropical Basins’ organized its 4^th meeting on February 3^rd, 2021.

In the eastern tropical Indian Ocean, intraseasonal variability (ISV) affects the regional oceanography and marine ecosystems. The ISV has been found to be modulated by the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD), but the impact of ENSO is ambiguous. 

The ocean temperatures continued a trend of breaking records in 2020. A new study, authored by 20 scientists from 14 institutes around the world, reported the highest ocean temperatures since 1955 from surface level to a depth of 2,000 m.
