Thando Ndarana is a Professor of Meteorology in the Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology (GGM) at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. His research primarily focuses on applying synoptic–dynamic meteorology diagnostics, such as potential vorticity, wave activity fluxes, and atmospheric energetics, to investigating dynamical processes and principles, including Rossby wave propagation and breaking. His research aims to enhance the understanding of rain-bearing weather systems over South Africa.  Thando's interests also include examining the influence of stratospheric dynamics on weather and climate over South Africa and across the Southern Hemisphere.
