Youth Responsibility for Enlightening the Unknown
6-7 June 2026 | Xiamen, China)
Theme: Land-Ocean-Climate Nexus for Coastal Ecosystems
Coastal ecosystems are highly productive and dynamic systems that play a critical role in global biogeochemical cycles and support human livelihoods. However, they are increasingly exposed to intensifying and interacting pressures, including land-based perturbations, global warming, sea-level rise, ocean acidification, and extreme weather and climate events, compounded by rapid coastal development. These multiple stressors often act simultaneously, leading to cumulative impacts, nonlinear ecosystem responses, and potential tipping points, thereby increasing uncertainty in ecosystem functioning and resilience. As a result, coastal regions are among the most vulnerable socio-ecological systems on Earth. The forum aims to highlight emerging topics related to the land-ocean-climate nexus in coastal ecosystems and to encourage interdisciplinary exchange.
The Blue Wave Doctoral Forum provides a platform for recent and soon-to-be PhD graduates in marine sciences to present their research and engage with scientists, policymakers, and peers. Participants will present their work through oral presentations and short talks. Awards will be presented to outstanding presenters at the closing ceremony of the conference.
