2026 International workshop on interbasin interaction, its impacts on predictability, and related climate phenomena
Date: December 15-16 (Tue-Wed), 2026
Place: JAMSTEC Yokohama Campus
Registration deadline: October 1, 2026 (December 11 for online attendance-only)
Registration website: https://www.jamstec.go.jp/j/pr-event/tbi2026/
This workshop will bring together scientists in climate science and related fields to discuss topics in interbasin interaction and predictability, with emphasis on the tropical regions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, pacemaker experiments, data-driven models applied to interbasin interaction and seasonal prediction, and the role of interbasin interaction in shaping global warming patterns.
The workshop will feature about 20-25 oral presentations on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday, with a reception on Tuesday evening. Remote workshop participation will be available. Remote presentations are also possible, but on-site participants will be given priority.
This is the 4th edition of this workshop, with the previous ones held in December 2023 at JAMSTEC, Yokohama, in December 2024 at Kyushu University, and in December 2025 at the University of Tokyo.
