The IPCC Special Report on the Oceans and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC) is the latest and most comprehensive assessment of how climate changes are affecting the ocean and cryosphere, the impacts and risks of those changes for ecosystems and humans as well as adaptation options and capacities. The SROCC has been prepared by 104 lead authors and 249 contributing authors from over 40 countries. The report was approved by governments and released on 25 September 2019.
This Town Hall event will accompany and introduce the Poster Session on “Key findings of the IPCC Special Report on Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate – Challenges, Opportunities and Future Scenarios”. While the poster session will provide specific details of the chapters’ assessments and key findings, this Town Hall will introduce the report and the IPCC assessment procedure, highlight new knowledge, and highlight its relevance for supporting policy-makers. It will give room for broader discussions and Q&A, including how to get involved and contribute to IPCC reports (through publications, as author, review editor or reviewer). This Town Hall will also be a perfect opportunity to invite feedback on the Special Report and to obtain input for the IPCC AR6 main reports.
