After being approved by the CLIVAR Tropical Basins Interaction Research Focus (TBI RF), the Working Group 4 (WG4) on Paleo Data organized its first teleconference online on 16 November, 2021. The meeting was convened by Yuko Okumura, co-chair of the TBI RF and lead of the WG4, with participation of Julien Emile-Geay, Jud Partin, Lea Svendsen and Jose Santos from ICPO.

The meeting started with Yoku’s introduction about the TBI RF, including its goal and recent activities, as well as about the objective of this working group. This was followed by self-introductions of the WG4 members. Next, Yuko presented a summary of the CLIVAR TBI workshop and some ideas on recommended actions, i.e., to raise awareness of availability of paleo data and to curate centralized information resources. Group members then had inspiring discussions centering the dissemination of recommendations, creating paleoclimate section on Climate Data Guide, etc.

This WG4 will have regular teleconferences to further discuss the ideas and carry out the activities in the future.
