WCRP Regional Workshop
WCRP Regional Workshop on Stratosphere-Troposphere Processes and their Role in Climate
http://www-mete.kugi.kyoto-u.ac.jp/Kyoto2013/index.html
Location: Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan
Date: 1st - 3rd April 2013
Deadline for abstract submission: 20th February, 2013
Deadline for registration: 15th March, 2013
The main objective of the workshop is to enrich the exchange of information between communities involved in scientific research of the stratosphere and troposphere interactions and related processes using observations, data analysis, modeling and numerical studies, and theories. The invited talks and poster sessions will focus on the principal scientific findings and uncertainties in the current knowledge. A special session open for public is intended to be a unique opportunity to discuss the roles of climate research in service to society. Participation of early career scientists and PhD students is encouraged.
The workshop is sponsored by SPARC (Stratosphere-troposphere Processes And their Role in Climate) one of the four core projects of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP). Founded in 1992, SPARC has coordinated and promoted high-level international research activities in the areas of societal concern such as climate variability and change, ozone, atmospheric chemistry, aerosols, and polar processes.
This WCRP/SPARC sponsored regional workshop will address the four following subjects:
- Global observations and modeling of the stratosphere and troposphere
- Tropical and extratropical upper troposphere/lower stratosphere (UTLS) processes
- Trends and variability in the stratosphere and troposphere
- Climate research in service to society
