Invitation to contribute to the 2013 AGU Fall Meeting on “Advances in Hydrometeorological Predictions & Applications”
The 2013 AGU Fall Meeting session H003 on “Advances in Hydrometeorological Predictions and Applications” will be held in San Francisco from 9-13 December 2013.
This session focuses on hydro-meteorological forecasting across spatial and temporal scales to support applications and decision-making in water and energy management, drought and other sectors. Techniques of interest include:
- the downscaling and calibration of meteorological/climate forecasts;
- calibration of hydrological models;
- In situ and remotely sensed data assimilation;
- Uncertainty quantification in initial condition, states and parameters;
- Deterministic and Probabilistic verification;
- Postprocessing of streamflow forecast calibration;
- Decision support modeling and product generation;
- Probabilistic decision rules.
Efforts may relate to specific techniques or end-to-end systems, at scales from local to global. We invite hydrologists, engineers, climate and meteorological scientists, social scientists, resource managers and stakeholders to share their approaches, experiences and findings.
We also invite work related to :
- Global Drought Information Systems (GDIS) that could include the monitoring and prediction of droughts at regional to global scales, understanding the mechanisms of drought on-set and recovery and the use of such information for drought management.
-
The Hydrologic Ensemble Prediction Experiment (HEPEX) that focuses on science and practice of hydrologic ensemble prediction (HEPS) and its usage for risk-based decision making.
The abstract submission deadline is August 6.
