The International Polar Year is officially launched in Paris (02 March 2007)
The Official Opening Ceremony to launch International Polar Year 2007-2008 took place at the Palais de la Découverte, a famous science museum in central Paris, France. The co-sponsors of IPY, the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) hosted the event. Several countries also had official events to mark the beginning of IPY. For more information, please check the IPY website (http://www.ipy.org).
