CLIVAR Atlantic Region Panel telecon held in March

The first CLIVAR Atlantic Region Panel (ARP) telecon with the new setup of members was organised on 31 March 2021. The meeting started with the self-introduction from all members and a brief introduction of the terms of reference of the panel, then followed by the discussion on SSG feedback to the panel, with a focus on cross-panel cooperation and possible collaboration with biogeochemical communities. The updates from various ARP activities have been made by panel members, which include: 1) the formulation of AMOC Task Team and its linkage with existing ARP and related activities; 2) Tropical Basin Interaction Workshop and its relevant outcomes to ARP; 3) the current status of CLIVAR-FIO Summer School on macroturbulence; 4) PIRATA-24/TAV; 5) SAMOC and pan-CLIVAR workshop on ocean observations. Then the potential areas that ARP could work together to make real concrete steps and focus on have been discussed, with a focus on coastal resilience tools and linking to the WCRP Lighthouse Activity on ‘My Climate Risk’.  The next ARP telecon will be organised in two months.
