Prof. Roger Barry

Director of the International CLIVAR Project Office
Biography:
After more than 40 years living and working in the USA, Professor Barry returns to the UK, where he started his career as a Scientific Assistant in the British Meteorological Office at RAF Worksop. During his years in the USA, he worked for the University of Colorado. Since 1977 Professor Barry was the Director of the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) and Distinguished Professor of Geography, until his retirement in 2010. His teaching and research spanned climate change, arctic and mountain climates, synoptic climatology, snow and ice processes, and climate-cryosphere interactions.
