This special issue was initiated by the Indian Ocean Region Panel and coincides with the launch of the second International Indian Ocean Expedition (IIOE2) at the International Symposium on the Indian Ocean (IO50) that will be held on 30 November - 4 December 2015 at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, India. 

On 16^th September 2015 WCRP/CLIVAR and IOC/WESTPAC hosted a joint workshop on “Advancing Ocean Climate Observations and Studies in the Indo-Pacific” at FIO

Dr. Annalisa Bracco, CLIVAR SSG member and incoming SSG Co-chair visited ICGPO and made a presentation on“Mesoscale and Submesoscale Processes: Observations and Modeling” for FIO’s scientists and students on 27th May 2015.

 Last week, the ICPO hosted Prof. Detlef Stammer, SSG co-chair, and this presented the ideal opportunity to further engagement with Chinese colleagues from the three main oceanographic institutions in Qingdao: FIO, OUC, and IOCAS.

“Charting the course for future climate and ocean research” - CLIVAR will convene an Open Science Conference (CLIVAR OSC) in 16-23 September, 2016 in Qingdao, China

The latest issue of Exchanges is now out! The theme of this Exchanges is on Monsoons: "Advancing understanding of monsoon variability and improving prediction".
