Postponement of the 2020 CLIVAR-FIO Summer School

We regret to announce that the CLIVAR-FIO Summer School on ‘Ocean Macroturbulence and Its Role in Earth’s Climate’, scheduled to take place in Qingdao, China, from 6-11 July 2020, will be postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a hard decision that has been made jointly by the scientific organizing committee and the local organizers, taking into consideration the safety of the lecturers and trainees as our first priority, as well as other constraints associated with the pandemic that will further limit our capacity to organize the CLIVAR-FIO Summer School in 2020.

The dates for a rescheduled CLIVAR-FIO Summer School in 2021, hosted by the First Institute of Oceanography, MNR in Qingdao, China, will be set out in due course following further discussion between lecturers and local organisers. The theme for the CLIVAR-FIO Summer School will remain the same. Further information will be announced on CLIVAR website (www.clivar.org) and twitter (https://twitter.com/WCRP_CLIVAR). The registration system will be reopened as soon as the new schedule has been decided.

We look forward to your continuous interest in and support to the CLIVAR-FIO Summer School in 2021 as well as other WCRP/CLIVAR activities in the future.
